Chitter-chatter pitter-patters across the mind of every Gemini. Back, forth, side to side, this way and that carrying them into unknown nooks and crannies of abstract thought and new connections. Gemini gets a thrill every time it finds a new fascinating fact.
Gemini is not a sign that does well when bored. This sign moves. It moves in multiple directions, even while staying still if necessary. You can’t keep a good mind down.
Insatiably curious, these critters can be seen regularly bounding off into unknown territory exchanging irresistible information, tips and tricks. Infused with incredible charisma, the twins can spin tales for days while doing 40 million other things. Surveyors of social scandals and purveyors of the salacious details, Gemini can sometimes be accused of treading shallow waters.
But that’s only half the picture.
Perhaps the notoriety for being a flirtatious chatterbox is all a defensive disguise for the much deeper, reflective nature that this sign isn’t so known for. What goes up must come down, so the old adage goes. The constellation of Gemini is the twin brothers, Pollux and Castor. One heavenly, one human. One made light and one made heavy. One of the upper realms, one of the lower. Inextricably linked and tied together throughout the ages, the twins symbolize the need for both the wisdom that arises from the realms of the unconscious and the wisdom that can be gleaned from the rational mind.
Gemini encapsulates paradox like no other, so take a second look at whichever twin is turned toward you.
Mercury is the ruler of this sign. Mercury has just spent the last three weeks retrograde. There are many pop-culture misunderstandings about this cycle. There is much hype about this thrice annual event. There are many ways to water down and sell astrology to the masses (or anything for that matter) and Mercury, the god of tricksters, liars, thieves and salespeople knows how to sling some slang.
But.
Mercury retrograde doesn’t make mistakes happen. Our lack of foresight does. Our lack of planning does. Our very human foibles do. We cannot blame all bad things on this phase of the Messenger’s travels. But because Mercury appears to move backwards through the sky during its retrograde, the cycle itself tends to reveal the mistakes that we have made in the past. The cycle gives us opportunities to make good on our bads. It gives us opportunities to make corrections where there was corrosion. Every Mercury retrograde provides us with many opportunities to look back at our histories and understand the wrong turns we’ve made, personally and collectively-and how to right them.
Mercury, the ruler of this new moon in Gemini, stationed direct on Thursday, June 11th at 3:33 PM PST. By the time the new moon occurs on Tuesday, June 16th at 7:05 AM PST, Mercury will be well on its way to gaining some forward momentum.
This is good news. New moons are new beginnings and to start this one with Mercury direct is definitely a step in the right direction.
The sun and moon will also be conjunct the super-powered planet, Mars. Mars is self directed, turbo charged, and full of erotic power. Mars can create mayhem, strife and all kinds of strikes against us when we misuse the red-hot muse. Therefore choose to direct this new moon’s energy along the lines that do good, for you and the world at large. And be specific. And directed. This combination is in Gemini remember, a sign that wants many multitudes of things to happen. All at once. Without a care if any of it ever gets done.
Focus is key and a certain amount of variety will help you stay interested.
Jupiter and Venus are assisting this new moon with a sextile from their current stay in Leo. Jupiter and Venus are considered the greater and lesser benefic planets, respectively. This means that their aid here is a blessing. With both of them assisting by making a sextile to this new moon we are in a moment of potential luck.
The two benefic love birds are in Leo, with Venus gaining on Jupiter. They will eventually collide and it just so happens that they do so on the same day as the next full moon (July 1st). When the two benefic planets collide it marks a moment of potential auspiciousness. When they do so on the same day as a full moon, it’s amplified.
Uranus is also sending sextile sweetness from its stay in Aries. Uranus lends an unpredictable energy, an element of surprise, unforeseen breakthroughs and an air of excitement to the combination.
The entire situation is begging us to be brave enough to go for what we want, strike out and make some of our own luck. Life isn’t fair, oppression is real, inequity is felt by those it effects the most and mostly denied by those it does not. Fortune favors the fortunate, for sure.
AND. There are moments astrologically that act like little gateways into possibility. Being aware of those moments is half the battle. Being versatile, creative with what we have and open to opportunity never hurt anyone either.
A couple of days after the new moon, on June 21st, the season shifting summer solstice takes place with the sun’s ingress into Cancer. This is a powerful and pivotal point in our year as the sun appears at its highest in the sky. The warmth and light from here on out shifts from steadily increasing to slowly decreasing in the Northern Hemisphere. The summer solstice is a joyous affair, a time that marks the summer’s natural abundance and the jubilation that comes with the release of it.
The seasonal shift also acts as an energizer for this new moon, helping to thaw out the frozen chambers of our heart. Jupiter and Venus in Leo are asking for a show of love, they want us to perform acts of healing by taking the risks to connect.
New moon blessings,
Chani
