Please join me for A Workshop For Eclipse Season: Part 1 to receive a reading for your sign, explaining the significance of the solar eclipse in Cancer, the lunar eclipse in Aquarius, Mercury retrograde, and the astrology of the lunar cycle from July 12th – August 10th. This course will also provide you with rituals and guided meditations for both the solar and lunar eclipse.
On July 4th images of Therese Patricia Okoumou flooded our feeds and screens. With nothing but water beneath her, the foot of liberty above her, and the eyes of the world upon her, she risked her life to make clear the most important principle possible.
We are here to love and protect each other.
Through her heartfelt action, Okoumou sounded the alarm for our personal and collective moral awakening.
On July 12th, at 7:48 PM PT, the new moon and partial solar eclipse occurs at 20° of Cancer. If the sign of Cancer teaches us anything it’s that we curate a well-lived life by developing and demonstrating our ability to care. If Eclipse Season teaches us anything it’s that it is in our best interest to direct our efforts towards what is most impactful. Ushering us into a time of personal growth, eclipses bridge the gap between our private and societal lives. With our collective issues amplified, what normally exists just under the surface of our situations gets exposed. What inhibits our access to the truth gets cut away.
Quickly.
With a little more than the usual new-moon-in-Cancer-emotional-rawness, this solar eclipse ushers us into a time of rapid growth and accelerated healing through our emotional experiences. Cancer is the amniotic fluid from which all life begins and comes forth. This eclipse’s emotional undertow may momentarily takes us under, but it also brings us back to the wisdom held in the power of our origin stories. How were we parented, loved, and cherished? How might we need to learn how to do so for ourselves? How are we being asked to transform a wound within our family line so that its damage gets disrupted.
Cancer reveals the needy child within. Teaching us how to embrace, nourish, and love into fullness what feels like it is lacking within us.
The first of three eclipses over the next month, Thursday’s partial solar eclipse may be the least visually stunning of them, but don’t let the optics fool you. Though astrology bases its meanings off of its visual impact, this eclipse comes with a secret card up its sleeve. In an exact opposition to Pluto in Capricorn, the incredibly potent planet of transformation, destruction, rebirth, and power is sure to make its mark.
We cannot build a family by pretending abusive dynamics are loving. We cannot build countries from stolen lands that cage stolen children and pretend it’s in the best interest of our national family. We cannot lie to ourselves about our feelings and grow into adults who know how to manage conflict with others. This eclipse asks us to weed out, unpack, and break down the power that abusive dynamics have had in our lives, and in the world, so that we might find a better way to build with one another.
In order to proclaim, for all the world to witness, that we will risk everything for the innocent, for the misunderstood, for the hungry, the tired, the huddled masses yearning to breathe free, we must also be willing to risk everything for ourselves. We must be willing to go into the depths of our own inner hell if we are to work to dismantle the ones we see being ceaselessly erected in the external world. We must know that we are as deserving of protection as those that we are willing to fight for.
There is nothing more powerful than a statement of love in the face of cruelty. There is nothing as powerful as gentle and deliberate care in a world so full of violence. There is nothing more decent, appropriate, or holy as a radical act of solidarity. With this eclipse, may we remember that the balance of doing for ourselves and each other is difficult to strike, but it is imperative if we are dedicated to scaling the monuments of liberty, love, and protection that are ours to reclaim.
