This week, besides the new moon in Scorpio, Mars and especially Venus steal the show. Venus deals with the femme/femininity in all things and female power in general. Venus is a planet of love, connection, sexuality and the sweetness that helps us to bond to one another and create something out of our unions.
This week, Venus going through the ringer of emotions and planetary influences. She makes a square to Neptune on Tuesday, a receptive sextile to Jupiter on Wednesday and then makes a conjunction to Saturn on Saturday. While the main theme remains Venusian in nature, each planet adds its own energy into the mix.
Venus’s square to Neptune in Pisces can heighten creativity but it can also add some confusion to our relationship dynamics and create opportunities for a few boundary transgressions.
Venus’s sextile to Jupiter in Libra is quite magnificent. Since they are in each other’s sign and forming an aspect to one another, they are said to be in mutual reception. A mutual reception is an “I like you, you like me, let’s do this thing” kind of aspect. These two are the “benefics” of our astrological system, the do-gooders, the beauty and bounty bringers. Moreover, the sextile is Venus’s signature aspect so this situation could hardly be better. We can use this kind of astrology to advance along peaceful lines, to look for the ease in a situation and to see where and how we can bring more love into our lives and the world.
Venus’s next stop is a conjunction with Saturn in Sagittarius. These two don’t usually like to mix as Venus is about the pleasures of connection and Saturn loves nothing more than to create walls, boundaries and separations. Saturn is too cool to wax poetic. Venus is too tender to feign uncaring. The two together can be a bummer, cooling our steamier connections and stalling the growth that we want to do together. But the two of these planets can also meet in the middle and help us to make some serious commitments to what we love and some loving commitments to what we are serious about. Sagittarius is a sign that has been dogged with both malefic planets (Saturn and Mars) for most of the year, making growth here much more challenging. Now that the ruler of Sagittarius has moved from Virgo (a sign it has immense difficulty in) to Libra (a sign it can breeze through gracefully) the part of our chart that contains Sagittarius is going to become easier to navigate and work with. Venus conjunct Saturn is akin to a grumpy old goat getting loved up by a freedom-loving, fast-moving fairy. This might not be a match that lasts for long, but it can certainly be a moment to consider how to responsibly commit to more joy.
In the midst of all this there is another reception, thought this one isn’t as mutual. Mars in steadfast, productive Capricorn makes a square to Uranus in the highly independent and action oriented sign of Aries. Aries is ruled by Mars so this square isn’t as difficult as it could be. But while we have Venus and Saturn urging us to make constructive relationship commitments, we have Mars and Uranus refusing to agree to anything that isn’t in our absolute individual interest. These two together can certainly tear our peace treaties up and test our skills of cooperation. Mars and Uranus are a disruptive combination that can make way for important new directions to start out on or just make a mess of the map that we have been following and set us out in a new direction that is more of a waste of time than an innovative way forward.
The end of the week brings us the next new moon. This one sits in the emotionally intense sign of Scorpio. Scorpio loves to plume the depths and revels in mystery, magic and, therefore, a magnetic energy that encompasses all of life. Unafraid of the horror, the supernatural and/or the humanness of life, Scorpio teaches us how to work alchemically on physical, spiritual and emotional levels. It’s a sign that teaches us about life through understanding death, a sign that teaches us about joy through understanding pain, a sign that teaches us about regeneration through teaching us what to let go of. It’s a powerhouse of energy and this week’s new moon affirmations are written to help you make the most of it.
*Your horoscopes are written affirmation style. Please adjust the wording so that it feels customized to you. Affirmations should fill us with energy, lifting us up and deepening our understanding of ourselves and what we value. In general, horoscopes are meant to be read for inspiration. If you know both your rising sign and sun sign, please read both horoscopes. They both contain important information. You’ll know which resonates more for you from week to week. Take what works for you, leave the rest. If you find inspiration here we love and appreciate donations. If you want to share this work you must quote it and link it to this post and website. Thank you for your support and for spreading the work around, we really appreciate it and you!
I break the spells that keep me caught up in the need to be respectable. I break the spells that keep me caught up in the distraction of chaos instead of the real work of defining what I want through understanding what is most meaningful to me. I break the spells of my inheritances that have kept me frozen in the lie that I am not enough.
To all that has held me back from believing that I am able to transform my situation through my own dedication I say, with love and light, goodbye.
With this new moon, I cast spells of deep belief in my ability to work towards all the solutions that I need right now. With this new moon, I cast spells of psychological well-being by refusing to reject any part of myself, no matter how fearsome, powerful or intense. I do not turn away from myself. I cast spells that help me to create healthy boundaries in all the relationships that I share my energy in. I cast spells that help me to hear my own needs more clearly and to tend to them more carefully.

I break the spells that keep me caught up in relationship dynamics that just don’t do it for me. I break the spells that keep me doubting that what I need in a relationship is possible for me and that urge me to just take what I can get and be happy. I am not waiting to be saved by someone else. I save myself by working on myself. I save myself by being there for myself. I save myself by letting love into my life in every form possible. I am not waiting for a prince.
I recognize my own queendom.
Queens work. They prepare. They hustle. They show up on time and they stay late. I apply that kind of work ethic to the relationships I am in and that I am calling in. I am here for you. I am working for this. If you want to get with this, you need to do so too.
I cast spells that bring in the folks that meet my sincerity with their own. I cast spells that conjure up the folks that know how sexy the right kind of commitments are. I cast spells that collect the souls that have the attitude of gratitude for the efforts that we will jointly put into our partnerships. I cast spells that make me energetic teflon to fools that will only waste my time. With this new moon, I cast spells that open me up to relationships of the highest quality
without worrying about the quantity. I banish the scarcity-mentality by filling my life with the connections that bring me high-resolution joy and deeply fulfilling exchanges.

I break the spells that keep me in confusion. I break the spells that make me feel like I don’t know what I need. I break the spells that keep me separate from knowing my truth.
I cast spells of clarity.
I am not afraid to know the truth about a relationship. I am not afraid to be clear and concise about my needs in them. I am here to move forward with who and what I can and to joyfully let go of what I cannot. I am an adult and adulting requires that I work with consequences in mind. I step into the power that clarity brings. I embrace the relief that clear commitments come with. I enjoy the bountiful benefits that decisions undoubtably bring.
With this new moon, I cast spells of concentration. I consolidate my energy and apply it to the work that most needs my attention. With this new moon, I cast spells to get to the jobs that most need my attention. With this new moon, I commit, with clarity and confidence, to the work projects that I am most inspired by, meeting the rigor of the work with acceptance and the knowledge that my efforts here are more than likely to reap big rewards.

I break the spells that keep me caught in relationships that don’t have room for my best interests. I am willing to break with the partnerships that no longer fit my life, the partnerships that I can no longer serve with integrity, the partnerships that, if I am honest, I am not really showing up for. I break the spells that keep me locked into relationships that aren’t reciprocal in order to have time to commit to what is more resonate, alive and energizing.
With this new moon, I cast spells that will bring me the confidence I need to trust in my ability to know what to continue to work on, what to innovate, what to change and what to part with.
I use this new moon to reset my commitments to my creative projects. I use this new moon to cast spells of creative liberation. I allow myself the freedom to find new forms of self-expression. I give myself the time to consider what fears might prohibit me from making the best decisions for myself. I cast spells that help me to listen to my creative instincts, especially the ones that help me to subvert the paradigms that keep me stuck. I channel the creative intelligence that isn’t afraid to subvert the systems that would have me tied up in knots trying to attain impossible standards. I tune into the creative instincts that help me to create my own standards, my own ideals and that put my values in the center of all I do and all I create.

I break the spells that keep me bound to the unhealthy family dynamics that I have inherited. I break the spell of blame. I break the spell that betrayal locks me into. I am interested in how to heal. I am interested in what I can do to move forward. I am interested in what forgiveness might mean. For me. For my home. For my family. For my future. For my heart. As a way of being in the world.
I use this new moon to cast spells of belonging. To my life. To the land I live on. To the world I share and co-create.
I use this new moon to dedicate myself to the creations that I most want to bring into being. I know that what I give myself to will turn into something of substance. I cast spells of commitment to the creation process without needing it to be a certain way. I commit myself to loving it through thick and thin. Children of all kinds need commitment, boundaries, rules, structure and a steady love that refuses to give up on their growth. I choose what I am willing to give that kind of attention to and I move with conviction from there.

I break the spells that keep me busy doing nothing. My time is sacred so I keep a watchful eye on it. I break the spells that keep me wasting energy where I don’t need to. I use the space in my days to work on my skills of constructive daydreaming. Giving myself some time and space to just be can be revolutionary. I use this new moon to break the spells that have me thinking in the same way about a problem, opportunity or situation. I use this new moon to refresh my way of seeing what I am looking at.
I am dedicated to seeing solutions.
If I can worry about my problems, then I can imagine their solutions. I can conjure up the understanding, the strategy and the wisdom needed to find my way around anything that life throws at me.
This week offers me a unique opportunity to benefit from my commitments. Especially the ones that I make to my home, family and healing my relationships with parents and childhood issues. No magic is made without a serious commitment to the elements that I work with. This new moon can help me to see that I have all the ingredients that I need to make a stable, sound, solid place to land, root down and grow from. This new moon can help me to see how much easier healing can be when I am willing to meet my life where it is.

I break the spells that block me from being able to visualize new streams of income. I break the spells that keep me from the potential that my talents posses. I break the spell of feeling stuck in any part of my work situation that doesn’t feel affirming.
I remember the power of unbridled creativity. I cast the spells that set this magic in motion. I know that there are times when I need to give myself space to reset my thinking and let my imagination run wild. I remind myself that I am free to re-create any part of my life if I am willing to work to make it so. I know that serious witches are seriously committed to the consequences of their actions, unafraid to put effort in so that dreams become a reality.
I am a serious witch unafraid of the effort that magic-making requires.
I remember that the ideas and thoughts that I commit to are the ones that I will experience more and more of. I commit to being concise, conservative and unflinchingly clear in my communications. I know that to waiver sends messages that I am unclear about my needs. I am crystal clear about what feels good and what doesn’t, which helps me to call in what I most wish to attract with greater results and efficiency.

I break all spells that keep me asleep to my own magic. I break all spells that keep me forgetful of my right to begin again. I break all former agreements that I may have made unconsciously or unknowingly that keep me from rising to meet my potential.
I cast spells for my own liberation.
I make these spells real by rooting out all the excuses that I make in order not to do the work that I know I need to. May I remember that I can access the energy of freedom whenever I want. May I remember to channel those teachers that never forgot their freedom no matter the confines imposed on them. May I embody their work effort. May I remember to commit to my freedom this year and to steer clear of self-pity. Self-pity only keeps me limited and unconscious to my agency. May I know the difference between liberation and disruption and may I steer myself away from needless tears and towards beneficial breaks from traditions that keep me down.
I use this new moon in Scorpio to call in all of the beneficial commitments I need to make to my livelihood and work. There is a seriously sweet break that this week can bring to my financial life and it all hinges on my ability to show up as my work needs me to.

Sagittarius & Sagittarius Rising
I break the spell of overexertion. I use this new moon to reset myself. I use this new moon to recuperate the immense amount of energy that has been required of me. I cast spells of re-creation. I let myself be re-created through rest. I know my work can handle a moment away from me.
I use this new moon to reflect on all the work that has worked. I give thanks that the work now has some more ease to it, more love in it, more help around it.
This week I connect the dots between my personal success and the folks that came together to get me here. And that keep me going. I’ve only begun to discover the magic of my community. I’ve yet to fully understand what we are capable of when we pool our resources and pour our common dreams into the same caldron. May I stay open to learning all the ways in which we can lift one another up and create space for a little more peace and connection on the planet.

I break the spells that keep me from appreciating my own tenderness. I break the spells that would have me thinking that I need to be tough in order to be strong. I break the spells that separate me from my own humanity. I break the spells that keep me from enjoying the fruits of my labors. I do not need to be a work-horse in order to be worthy.
I do need to allow myself creative time in the dark-rooms, studios and private spaces in order for my work to find its way. This week I commit to working on the behind the scenes projects that need me the most, even if that is just my own time in reflection. Even if that’s just me allowing myself a moment of appreciation for all the healing that I have been doing. I recognize the work that I have done in my private life and know its priceless value.
I use Sunday’s new moon to cast spells of connection. I take time to reestablish connections with the folks that I truly want to spend more time with. I make an effort with the friendships in my life that need a little refresher. I reset my commitment to my dreams and goals, allowing them to change as I do.

I break the spells that have me thinking that I need to limit my success. I break the spells that keep me from doing the work I most need to do in order to be successful. My definition of success is personal, not societal, so I work to meet my own standards of success and no one else’s.
I break the spells that would have me editing the creative energy that runs through my work. I break with any tradition that tells me that I should put a lid on the wild currents that come through me. Creativity is messy and unconcerned with being respectable. I allow myself the freedom to be so too. I liberate myself from needing to be conventional in the ways I approach my career.
I am free to find my own way of doing what is mine to do.
I use Sunday’s new moon to cast spells of wellness for my work in the world. May all that I am working towards facilitate more healing in the world. I use Sunday’s new moon to cast spells of courage and confidence so that I can do what I know I need to do. I use Sunday’s new moon to cast spells of faith in the process so that, no matter the immediate results, I know that I will have long-term gains. I use Sunday’s new moon to commit to the people and the partnerships that have shown their commitment to me. I take time to recognize the folks that have given me the gift of their support.

I meet opportunity with a willingness to work at making it a reality. I break the spells that keep me unconscious, lost in wishful thinking. I make practical magic by combining my ability to have faith in life with my ability to see a goal through to the end. I send the message to everyone I work with that I am serious about my intentions by being consistent and prepared. I cast spells of commitment to my dreams, to my work and to my professional life. I pay close attention to the relationships that inspire me to think bigger and dig deeper into myself, honing my skills and staying on course. I give thanks for those that model the kind of professionalism I am cultivating.
I cast the spells that will help me in the long run.
In honor of Sunday’s new moon I take time to reset my goals. Goals that help me reach a destination worth working towards. Goals that keep me on track with my highest good. Goals that keep me honest. Goals that keep me accountable to my dreams. Goals that remind me how important it is to marry my ability to visualize what I want with my ability to develop the skills needed to make my visualizations a reality.
