Hot Degrees
The 16 degree mark of Sagittarius, Pisces and Virgo gets worked this week. While Saturn stations retrograde at 16 degrees of Sagittarius, it does so while making a square to Jupiter in Virgo and Venus in Pisces (who are making an opposition to each other). With the last solar eclipse/new moon at 18 degrees of Pisces, these mid-late degrees of mutable signs stay lit. Look at your chart to see if you have any planet or important point at or within 15-19 degrees of one of these signs. Planets and points in Gemini will also be feeling the action as it will receive all the squares and oppositions from its fellow mutable signs.
The second eclipse this month will occur at 3 degrees of Libra. Look to see if you have anything within 1-5 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn. Planets in Aries and Libra will feel it most, but the other cardinal signs are still very sensitive to the activation of the eclipse.
Mercury
Mercury enters the northern hemisphere’s spring-based sign, Aries. Mercury is a little rash, harsh and hot-headed in Aries, but it’s also excited, courageous and committed to realizing its own potential. Mercury will make a superior conjunction to the sun this week, otherwise known as cazimi, or entering the heart of the sun. Philosophically, we can view this transit in terms of a sick person getting a transfusion of much-needed nutrients. Mercury is weak and burned up by traveling too close to the sun. However, at the moment of the exact conjunction, Mercury enters the heart of the situation and receives the infusion it needs. This can be a time of heightened mental activity, intellectual insights and conscious clarity. It can also be a time to ask for the guidance, healing and understanding that we most need. This transit will occur a couple of hours after the penumbral lunar eclipse/full moon in Libra. Since full moons already bring something to light, this combination can help to bring extra insight and understanding. Later in the week Mercury trines Mars helping the planet take action and be invigorated by new ideas for courageous living.
Mutable T-Square
A square between Jupiter and Saturn is a defining moment. It’s about how to make the most of the opportunity that we have been given. A potent moment in the growth cycle, this square has a crisis of consciousness kind of feel. How will we grow as a culture, country and global community? What beliefs do we hold dear and which have we lost sight of?
This square between Jupiter (still retrograde in Virgo) and Saturn (in Sagittarius) happens within 2 degrees of the last eclipse, making it potent and poignant, and occurs a little under 2 hours before this week’s lunar eclipse/full moon in Libra on Wednesday, March 23rd. It happened once on August 3rd of 2015 and will happen once more on May 26th of 2016.
Jupiter brings optimism, growth, expansion and confidence. In Virgo, the confidence only comes through applying oneself to a virtuous amount of hard work. Jupiter in Virgo can’t feel good about itself until it has mastered a multitude of tiny tasks. It gets its joy through absorbing and integrating encyclopedias of knowledge.
When the hard working Jupiter in Virgo is met with a square from the high-minded, goal-setting Saturn in Sagittarius, a Saturn that is stationing retrograde no less, the scrutiny and work load increases. Under these conditions, we may not make massive gains in the ways that will bring us immediate confirmation of our awesomeness, but we can make very important, sturdy and well-earned steps forward.
Venus gets caught in this configuration on March 25th as she opposes Jupiter and squares Saturn. This amplifies and carries the message of the Jupiter/Saturn square all the way down into our personal relationships. What we choose to learn from, take on and look straight at in our interpersonal lives will teach us for years to come.
Moon
A penumbral/lunar eclipse/full moon in Libra will occur on March 23rd. A penumbral eclipse is less obvious and dramatic than a total or partial eclipse.
This is, however, the last eclipse in Libra for some time. Finishing up a 2 year stint of eclipses here, this last installment is sure to show us what we have learned, what we have come to understand about a certain area of life and what we are now ready to see through the eyes of experience.
*Horoscopes are meant to be read for inspiration. If you know your rising sign, please read it along with your sun sign. Reading your rising sign gives you a more specific understanding as to how the astrology is landing in your personal chart. That does not mean that the rising sign is how you should identify or that it is more important than your sun sign. If you don’t know your rising sign, read your sun sign. Both sun and rising horoscopes contain important information. You’ll know which resonates more for you from week to week. Take what works for you, leave the rest. If you find inspiration here we love and appreciate donations. If you want to share this work you must quote it and link it to this post and website. Thank you for your support and for spreading the work around, we really appreciate it and you!
Wednesday’s eclipse might trick you into thinking that it is not about you. It might have you believing that the ones you are in partnership are to blame. It might have you thinking that those you are in intimate relationships with are your claim to fame.
Resist the temptation to project all the good, all the difficult and all business in between onto those that you are closest to.
This is the last eclipse in a series of eclipses that have activated your 7th house of relationships for the past 2+ years. It’s time to take a good look at what you are willing to drop in terms of unhelpful behaviors in this area of your life. It’s time to take an honest look at what you have learned about your needs, your wants and your desires in this area of your life. It’s time to acknowledge all the ways in which you have healed, grown and helped yourself to understand your fears, your failures and your flawless heart. It’s time to love yourself in the ways that you want to be loved.
There is more than one way in which this week brings you relationship lessons. They may be love, creative and/or career related lessons. But one thing is for sure – the nature of how you use your energy creatively in both love and your career will be illuminated this week.
Wednesday’s eclipse helps you to get clarity on the amount of work that you have been able to accomplish in the past couple of years. It tells tales of those you have met along the way and how you have mutually made a difference in each other’s lives. It speaks to the strides that you have taken to love your physical self by taking care of it and making sure it gets all it needs. It speaks to what you are now, or are soon to be, ready for in your work life and your way of being in relationship with it.
There is a great growth that will begin in this area of your life come the fall. That makes this last eclipse one that helps you to put to rest old insecurities and outdated doubts about your ability to make your mark with the work that you do.
It’s time to get good, solid containers for your creative energy. It’s time to deal with any anxieties that you may have about fitting in (or not) with the crowd. It’s time to toss your hat in the ring with total trust that you’ll, at the very least, have fun while doing so. You don’t have to get the work right, you just have to keep growing with all of the ups and downs it brings you.
Wednesday’s eclipse wraps up a time period that has asked you to step up your creative output over the last couple of years. It’s been energizing your artistic ambitions. It’s been energizing your inner creator. It’s been teaching you about how to relate to your erotic energy. What to do with it. How to engage with it. Who to share it with. How to protect it. How to cultivate it. How to respect it.
What love affairs have taught you the most? Which of your children have helped you to see what you don’t want to keep bringing into form? Not all of the things we make manifest are meant to stay. Not all of them are meant to work out. The things we create that do not stay can teach us the most about ourselves. Can you have gratitude for what left as well as what arrived, or is it not yet time for that?
What have you attracted in that you are happy to keep working with? Who have you attracted in that you want to keep loving and learning from? How have you begun to understand your needs in romantic relationships?
Wednesday’s lunar eclipse highlights a part of your chart that, over the past few years, has been under the intensity that eclipses are famous for. This full moon offers you the ability to see all that you have healed and all that you have come to understand about the nature of your relationship to your inner life, your home, your family and the work that you have put into having and honest, sturdy and time-tested foundation.
Wednesday’s lunar eclipse might have you in conversation with parents, landlords, housemates, real estate agents and the like. It might raise emotions. It might move you, quite literally. It might highlight, illustrate and reveal all the work that you have done and all the ways in which you are home. Home within yourself. Home in a way that can never be taken from you. Home to stay. Home for good. Home and happy about it.
What we build is only as good as what we build it upon. Our depth of experience is contingent upon the depths we are willing to dive down into. The experience of being with family is only as connected as we are willing to be with our own inner life.
Happiness starts from within. Love happens in the interior folds of our mind, our heart and in the corners of our eyes. It’s how we look at what we have. It’s how we see ourselves. It’s an inside job. It comes not from success, not from outer validation, not from status and not from a title. Happiness is a private experience. We may share it with others. We may inspire it in the moment. We may talk about it publicly, but happiness is a deeply personal state of being. It’s a secret you share with yourself. It’s a secret you share with the memories of your former lives. It’s a wink and a nod to your younger self letting them know that there is this to look forward to.
You did alright, kid.
This week might invite you to struggle with how to make something out of your creative gifts. It might force you to pay attention to the creative children you are trying to bring into the world. Lovers and/or the things you love the most might motivate you to find a way to persevere through challenges at work. Your actual children and the children in your life might test your ability to stand for their best interests and not give into an immediate move to placate their anxieties.
Wednesday’s full moon and lunar eclipse swoops in to remind you that you need to communicate your feelings. It shines a light on all you have learned about being able to say what you mean and mean what you say. It puts the finishing touches on something that you have been writing, conceptualizing and trying to make real in your communications.
There could be a deadline, a contract, t’s to cross and i’s to dot. Do so. It’s a graduation of sorts as there won’t be eclipses in this part of your chart for some time and working with this one with whatever mastery you can muster will help you to move forward and get your messages across.
While Wednesday’s eclipse highlights your evolving relationship to realizing your talents, calling on you to learn how to best work with your resources and how to ask for an equal trade for your efforts, the rest of the week’s astrology continues to rock your world.
There isn’t much new in terms of the tone though. This is your continuing education. A curriculum that is hard at work, trying to convince you of your capacity to grow within the framework of your current structures. Some relationships agreements are asking to be defined (just because someone is in need doesn’t mean you have to make up for the needs they can’t meet themselves). Some family issues may be tugging at your sleeve (just because you are part of a family or families doesn’t mean that you don’t get to be your own person or need your own life). Some personal need to expand may be in direct conflict with what you have a responsibility towards.
This tension is important for you to contend with. It aims to pull the best out of you. It aims to test you so that you are forced to stretch, work, relate and create past your known limits. This might affect what you are doing at work. This might affect what you are making at work. This might affect your relationship to what you are working on. It definitely works to increase your ability to be in balance with your material life.
This week exposes your natural gifts. This week highlights your talents. This week spotlights all the ways in which you have grown, all the ways in which you have learned how to be yourself and how to value that self.
This Wednesday’s lunar eclipse happens in your sign. It might bring about a challenge at work. It might highlight a particular working relationship that you are learning the most from. It might bring you so much energy that you know you can no longer hide from the work that is yours to do.
Whatever happens, this is a moment to continually bring your inner focus back to yourself. No matter what goes down, this Wednesday’s eclipse wants you to remember that you are in the equation. It wants you to keep your gaze inward. It wants you to help yourself through the ups and down. It wants you to hold your own hand through the celebration. It wants you to have a private moment that makes space for you to reflect on the path that you have tread thus far. It wants you to honor the success as an outer reflection of all of the inner work that you have engaged with.
Wednesday’s eclipse highlights the headway that you’ve made with the part of yourself that can be self-sabotaging. Wednesday’s eclipse reveals the ways in which your body has been teaching you much needed lessons about realizing that you have no control over what comes your way. Wednesday’s eclipse shows you just how well you have been able to take the energy that unnecessary suffering can suck from us and repurpose it for a higher purpose.
Wednesday’s eclipse can point out the ways in which you may still be tied to stories of struggle that are no longer necessary to carry forward. This eclipse will be an invitation for some of you to cut ties with those old patterns. This eclipse may give you the opportunity to straddle both places, what you suffer from and what you know you no longer need to struggle with. Knowing both can make us humbly ambitious and willing to work in a way that keeps us in touch with all we need to work on while seeing the possibility of walking around with less pain.
Sagittarius & Sagittarius Rising
Wednesday’s lunar eclipse showcases who is on your wavelength. It shows you who you want at your party. It shows you who upholds the same hopes and dreams as you do. Someone may step forward to assist you. Someone may send a helpful email, encouragement or opportunity your way. Someone might help you, hold you and listen to you in a way you long for.
Let them.
Don’t cut short your good fortune. Don’t take a short cut when cultivating friendships. Don’t push away the people that are pulling out the best of you. Go through all the iterations that your friendships take on. See what they are teaching you. See what emotions, what thoughts and what ideas they inspire.
Wednesday’s lunar eclipse can also highlight all the ways in which you are able to reveal a more honest and transparent version of yourself in your communities. What ill-fitting identities have you let go of? What false representations of yourself have you let go of. What status symbols have you walked away from in order to walk towards a truer version of who you are and what you see for your future?
Wednesday’s lunar eclipse makes clear your hopes for the future. It validates the visions that you have, encourages you to see the strides that you have made and urges you to keep making them.
Wednesday’s eclipse works wonders for your career. Its light casts a beautiful glow upon all you have been working on and towards. It’s a moment that may reveal the hard work that you’ve put in. It’s a moment to fully own. It’s a moment to bask in. It’s a moment to help you put your fears into perspective.
Having doubts about ourself isn’t the issue. But those doubts get the best of us when we refuse to hold up our hard-earned accomplishments. Those doubts gain traction when we give them more attention than our successes. Those doubts begin to win when we serve them the gains that we have made.
Doubts make meals out of all things we waver on. Don’t waver on your resilience to find your way. Don’t waver on your trust in your process. Don’t waiver on the route that is yours to take.
Wednesday’s eclipse is an opportunity to appreciate what you do, how you do it and how well you have learned to do it. It’s an opportunity to see success through different eyes. it’s an opportunity to see what you no longer need to strive to achieve and what you still do. It is also another opportunity to trust that your life is moving along the path it needs to because you are committed to listening to what your life wants from you.
Something might strike you this week about the importance of paying attention to the ways in which you are collaborating with others. There may be an agreement that needs to be hashed out. A boundary set. Or some expectation that you need to re-examine for yourself.
On the other hand, this week can be very effective in getting you in touch with who you need to speak to, what messages you need to listen to and some suggestions about reframing how you look at your value and the worth of what you do.
Wednesday’s eclipse encourages you to see the ground that you have covered over the last couple of years. It is highlighting the philosophical shifts that you’ve undergone. It’s celebrating all the ways in which you have recently allowed yourself more room, more opportunity and a greater vista of possibility to gaze out upon. This may effect what you are teaching, learning and publishing in the world. Allowing yourself to bring your ideas and philosophies into form is a fantastic way for you to reflect upon all that the eclipses have brought you lately.
The beginning of March brought you an opportunity to step through a new portal of possibility. Sometimes these portals are incredibly subtle, yet they make all the difference. Some portals are drastic and dramatic, daring you to make it through. Some are invisible portals that you don’t know you’ve gone through until you do. Once on the other side you notice how much clearer you feel and how much more room you have to breathe.
It’s time to let your healing lead the way. You’re bigger than your fears. You’re more than your failures. You are made to make it. You are wired to work it out. You are fit to fight your way through the pitfalls and predicaments of this life.
Wednesday’s eclipse highlights the ways in which you have learned to incorporate difficult lessons over the past couple of years. It highlights the ways in which you have learned to combine your energy with another, or how you have learned to separate out from those that you share yourself with. Relationships have a way of taking center stage right now, not only for the joy that they can bring, but for the lessons that they teach you about how you show up in the world, what you mean to others and how your relationship with those that you are closest to rallies your desire to do your thing out in the world.
