Mars enters Cancer
This week begins on last week’s edgy note. Still immersed in the intensity of the Mars/Saturn opposition that occurred Sunday night/Monday morning, the week will take a moment to get moving.
But by Tuesday, Mars moves from the tight squeeze of Saturn to the electric influences of Uranus and breakthroughs abound. Mars battles notions of conformity with Saturn, but swiftly moves on to more enlightening options with Uranus. The energy of the two combined is a highly combustable combination, but one that revs the engines of ingenuity.
Wednesday offers a momentary whiff of stability as Mercury in Taurus trines Pluto in Capricorn. Deep conversations can lead to longer lasting changes, the kind that you can build upon.
But by Thursday all bets are off agin, as Mars isn’t the only planet to be shaken up by Uranus’s rays. As Venus finishes up its last few days in Aries, it makes a conjunction with the planet of chaos and change. Venus and Uranus together are an unlikely duo. Venus tries to build bonds while Uranus breaks all ties to the familiar. These two together can bring abrupt changes to the nature of our relationships but they can also bring the kind of challenges that lead to the necessary breakthroughs that we need within them. True love requires real freedom. How do we know what our hearts want until we understand that we have the right to choose whom and how we love?
On the same day that Venus conjuncts Uranus, the sun gets a mighty lift from Jupiter. Jupiter and the sun together create possibilities without limit. Jupiter is in a powerful position at the moment as it is preparing to station direct in the next week and a half. The sun and Jupiter are majestic and magnanimous in this position, creating an opportunity for optimism, expansion and overdoing it.
On Sunday, the sun then goes onto make a confusing square to Neptune, ending the weekend on a note of intoxication or just plain old exhaustion. For those of us that go big, Saturday’s sun trine Jupiter might make us go too big in the wrong direction. Find your limits and be grateful for them; otherwise Sunday’s hangover might stay over for longer than you’d like.
On Sunday, Mars moves into the brooding realms of Cancer, where it will stay until July 20th. Emotions tend to get distorted with Mars in Cancer and explosions of feelings happen well under the surface. Cancer can’t run the risk of being clear and concise, if it threatens the emotional connections that it has worked so hard to develop. But Mars in Cancer must still do its job, finding ways to be more forthright about feelings no matter the result.
Those that have natal Mars in Cancer (meaning that Mars was in Cancer when you were born), will be having a Mars return which will, in part, reveal aspects of how you work with this placement in your everyday life. It will be an exploration of how you deal with boundary issues and the ways in which you are learning to be more honest and open about what you need from others and what you need to hunt for on your own.

Aries & Aries Rising
Core needs cannot be compromised. They cannot be cheated on. They cannot be minimized. Not if we wish to build a life that is supportive of our entire self. Not if we wish to build a life that can sustain our growth. Not if we wish to build a life that is considerate of our pleasure.
As your ruling planet, Mars, moves down to the base of your chart from now until late July, you’ll be asked to advocate for all you need as you rebuild some aspect of your foundation. Give yourself what you did not get as a child, but yearned the most for. Give yourself what you always wanted your parents to be able to give you. Give yourself whatever you have been hungry for all these years.
Give yourself permission to fill up.
The last time Mars was in this part of your chart was 2 years ago. Look back to that time to see if there are any correlations between then and now. What home, family or foundational issues you were sorting through then? Which have resurfaced now? How are you better equipped at this point to build a base for yourself that prioritizes your core needs?
As Venus makes a conjunction to Uranus, its last dramatic transit in Aries, it is asking you to witness all the ways in which you are actually fully prepared to make a quantum leap in your growth. Imagine yourself post leap, imagine being a little more free with your confidence, a little less weighed down by self-doubt and a little more willing to trust that all you’ve let go of recently is exactly right for the moment that you are living into.
Taurus & Taurus Rising
There’s one last piece to let go of. One last experience that will help you shake off what no longer needs to be hanging around. One last opportunity to understand how little you need to cling to when you have a solid grasp of yourself.
Life is trying to tell you how good it feels to have only the truth left. Only the essentials to carry forth with you. Only the distilled essence of the lessons to bring on the journey.
The truth is, you are enough. Everything else in life is just a lesson nudging you towards that inevitable conclusion. All you need to do is keep breaking with the traditions that you come from that tell you otherwise. All you need to do is continue uncovering this core belief no matter how covered up it has been. All you need to do is awaken to it at every moment in the day so that you can begin to experience your life through a different paradigm, one that allows you to enjoy much more and struggle much less.
Gemini & Gemini Rising
Distractions can appear to be painful detours from productivity, but they can be important allies when we are trying to find our way through the density of being. When suffering with something, it is always good to distract ourselves with self-love, art, nature, friendship, mysticism and all things that inspire a sense of possibility about the future.
While last week may have given you reason to indulge in distractions of all kinds, this week helps you to consolidate the importance of the lessons you have recently learned and begin to put them to use. In fact a feeling of relentless optimism should be paying you a visit, making the formerly impossible, possible.
Sometimes all it takes is a shift in perspective.
Part of this sense of expansion might come from realizations that you have while spending time with friends. So do so. Part of this exuberance might come through the creative projects you are currently working on. So make sure that you spend time working on them. Part of the experience of abundance may come as a result of having dedicated yourself to the more hefty work that last week demanded that you do. Now you can enjoy the fruits of your labour.

Most of us need continual reminders that it is not only possible to change, but that it is necessary and inevitable if we do any work on ourselves at all. When mired by the resurfacing of past patterns, it is easy to think that our current emotional state is the only one that will ever be, no matter how hard we work on ourselves. This combination requires that you be willing to take actions on behalf of your beliefs. This combination requires that you keep developing faith in your ability to listen to and learn from each individual situation. As Mars enters your sign for the first time in two years, you’ll be asked to take the actions that feel right for you while developing the courage to say no to the ones that do not.

Sagittarius & Sagittarius Rising
We have to be able to understand the potential of the relationships that we are in, while at the same time appreciating the issues that they help us work through. If we are ever to heal and have a chance at being truly known, intimacy requires that we have our core issues exposed, examined and understood. This Sunday, Mars returns to your 7th house of partnerships for the first time in 2 years. Mars will transit through this area of your chart for the next 2 months, asking you to work through the more compulsive relationship issues that tend to get your goat. Mars moving through this part of your chart will tend to teach you about the boundaries that you need to set and the boundaries that you need to respect. Here, Mars encourages the more intense relationship dynamics to surface. When Mars is in the picture, there is no denying its influence or its propensity to instigate a riot every once in a while.
