This week starts out on a couple bright notes. Both the sun sextile Saturn and Venus sextile Pluto are helpful aspects, ones that encourage us to keep growing the seeds that we planted with last Friday’s new moon. Mercury’s move into Libra emphasizes the house in our chart that contains Libra and the sign itself. Relationships, peace, harmony and being in a dynamic state of balance becomes highlighted. So too do our struggles to find such solace.
Power struggles.
What pushes up against us teases out our self-defense strategies. What tests us tempts us to lean back on our lazy behaviors. This week the sun, in the relationship-oriented sign of Libra, gets challenged by making a square to Pluto in Capricorn. Pluto is extreme. Powerful. Intense. Obsessive. Cathartic. Pluto likes to take us on an underworld journey from time to time. This is a very quick transit however, one that might momentarily have us coming face-to-face with what lies just beneath the surface of our personality and another’s.
Mars is also testing the limits this week. As the first difficult transit to Jupiter’s recent arrival in Libra, Mars pokes a hole or two into some of the grand plans that Jupiter has been making. Being tested isn’t bad however. It lets us know where we stand in relation to what we are growing ourselves into. Tests tell us just how up to the challenge we are and which challenges really aren’t that worth the stress they’ll take to make work.
You might notice that these squares are happening between the planets transiting through Libra (the sun and Jupiter) and the planets transiting Capricorn (Mars and Pluto). These two signs sit in a natural square to one another, teasing out the other’s potential through creating the friction necessary to make us act on an issue. As all of this friction is occurring, the waxing first quarter moon will also be transiting through Capricorn on Friday, Saturday and part of Sunday, making conjunctions with Mars and Pluto and squaring those planets in Libra. This will add a little extra emotional energy to the growth edges we are up against.
Some apples might fall off the cart this week. Some parts of your plan might get trimmed away. Some tests might shed light on what to take with you and what to let be for now. Growth is a process of advances and edits. Don’t be afraid to know what you can’t do in the moment and don’t be shy about focusing on what does need to get done, no matter what else might momentarily suffer.
*Horoscopes are meant to be read as inspiration. If you know both your rising sign and sun sign, please read both horoscopes. They both contain important information. You’ll know which resonates more for you from week to week. Take what works for you, leave the rest. If you find inspiration here we love and appreciate donations. If you want to share this work you must quote it and link it to this post and website. Thank you for your support and for spreading the work around, we really appreciate it and you!
Get to know your hunger. What it craves. What it demands. What it sets you out on the hunt for. What it sniffs out. Don’t deny your beast.
Get intimate with your drive. At what speed does it have you clipping along at? What destination does it orient itself towards? Which wild pack does it tend to roam alongside? Know where you are headed.
Get familiar with the victories that you fantasize about. In your imagination, what finish lines do you triumphantly cross? What awards do you win? What do the people love you for? What kind of queendom do you reign over? Get to know what kind of leader you are.
This week warns against taking folks for granted. It warns against overriding your need for pleasure and love for the sake of profit or product. It warns against forsaking your appetite for success in order to maintain relationships that don’t know how to hold you up in the world. It warns against only giving one side of the situation precedence.
Look for the folks that stoke your fire. Look for the relationships that help you hold up what is most important in the long run. Look to grow the connections that inspire you to do more for the world while giving all you need to yourself.
What you hold as sacred carries with it an emotional urgency this week. Look for the ways in which you are healing your relationship to your faith. What holds you through the difficulties? What overarching beliefs are there for you no matter what? What long term plans need your faith in them? What are you carrying that weighs too heavily on you now? What can you ask for help in holding?
Remember to ask for help.
Whether you call that praying or declaring what you need, know that you can call on something larger than you to help you with your burdens. Know that the more you test, push against, lean into and even rally against whatever it is you have faith in, the more intimately you will understand it. The more intimately you will know how to work with it. The more intimately you will know where you stand with it. Intimacy isn’t always a pleasurable experience. It involves knowing something thoroughly, which is to know everything it is and everything it is not. Be willing to test what you have faith in so that your relationship with it is as real as you need it to be.
Sharing ourselves means that we have to contend with what will potentially get lost along the way. We transform each time we merge our energy with another. We give way to what we gain. We are never the same once we have had the experience of co-creating with another.
This week’s astrology points to the potential of those collaborations. It also points to the perceived risks. Perceived because it is yet to be known what kind of risks and what kind of rewards will be granted through the process. The next month will tell you a tremendous amount about the results that you can expect. This week will tell you something about the nature of the emotional responses that you are dealing with internally and externally through your partnerships.
Because this year wants you to maximize your time spent having experiences that bring pleasure, joy and, as a result, balance into your life, it’s important to know what emotional and mental burdens, fears and faulty wiring can get in the way of that. This week points to both the pleasures and the growing pains associated with allowing yourself a new level of self-expression and fulfillment.
Let working on your relationships be its own reward. Let your defenses be disarmed by your willingness to learn through the process. Resist neither the efforts that need to be made nor the internal battle that may have to be waged.
Great relationships are not made without great effort.
There is a lot that can be accomplished between you and those that you are engaged with. There is a passion and a purpose there that you can either tap into, support or develop. The folks that you want to make things happen with might also be consumed with their own amount of intensity and time-consuming tasks. The stakes are raised for you both. This month elevates both their work in the world and your own. And the work that you can get done together.
What are your relationships a container for? What is produced out of them? What about them works? What about them wrestles with the truth until it finds it? What about them just wrestles with what would be better left alone?
Take this week to note how your relationship dynamics in the moment mirror those from your childhood. See which parts of your past are creeping into your present. Notice how, when you expand your home base and find more ease with yourself, your relationships can become more naturally and effortlessly able to work on what they need to. Relationships are our greatest vessels of transformation. Let everything rise up for healing within the ones that can support that kind of work.
On a very practical level, this week showcases all the little daily doings that fill up your calendar and the mounting pressure of the tasks that must get done at work.
There looks to be a lot on your plate. All of which screams that it must get done ASAP. All of which is important for your overall growth and development. All of which is going to help you get to the next step.
But you are only granted so many hours in a day and so many days in a week. Keep yourself in check. Keep yourself in balance. Keep yourself healthy so you can hum along at a good clip. This weekend it might especially important to tend to the needs of your physical well being. Consider it your job to take care of your health. Consider it your mission to make sure that you don’t get too caught up in social situations that create problems for you on the job. Consider it important to make yourself available for folks but only as much as you have time for. Listen to those that help you to give yourself what you need. Be too “busy” to give too much to those who tend to suck the air out of the room or the wind out your sails. You need all the gusto you can get to keep things going. You also need the appropriate amount of good old fashioned fluttering about socially. Seek the balance, find the comfort, get the job done.
How we make our art into something that can financially support us is often the crux of our career life. Our art is what we do best. Our art is what we do without getting paid to do it. Our art is our gift to the world.
Getting paid for it is a gift that keeps on giving back to us. It’s a positive feedback loop that helps us to keep putting our very best back into the world. This year is about stretching yourself so that you move into that tension willingly.
This month highlights the necessary struggle involved in trying to make it so that what you are most talented at can support you, and support you well. This month is a step in that direction. It isn’t the whole story, but each step holds part of the tale. This week makes clear the friction and the possible decisions that need to be made in order to move forward with what you know you need to be doing.
Because this year is calling on you to outgrow some old story about your worth, your value and your ability to support your dreams, you’ll have to come up against what gets in the way of this. You’ll have to learn how to outsmart your situation and grow in the face of what would rather see you stay put. You’ll have to brazenly get bigger than all that has tried to keep you in too small a position. Your influence is too far reaching to keep to yourself.
Know where it comes from. This drive within you. Born out of you. Born with you. Know the history of it. Know the roots it rises from. The soil that nourished it. Know the kind of water it needs. Know the sunlight it seeks.
Know the drive that directs you to good and the drive that directs you towards destruction. Know what gets in the way of your connections. Study what separates you from the sources of nourishment that you seek. Get to know the parts that aren’t always so pretty.
Separate yourself from what you don’t need to carry forth. Set down what can’t see you through this next cycle. Unpack what won’t keep, what will spoil and what will poison the rest of your meal. You can’t bring everything with you. You can’t keep it all and keep going as far as you need to go. Use this week as an opportunity to sort through your history, to unpack a few pieces of psychological luggage and to get to the bottom of a burden you were given without your permission.
You owe yourself the chance to grow beyond your stumbling blocks, but you can’t do that without making sure you know exactly where and what they are. You can’t do that without knowing which drive to feed and which to refuse anymore fuel.
Not that you have much time for them right now, but quiet moments of reflection can serve you well. Intentional moments of introspection, self-inquiry and self-study can too. Getting to know yourself beyond the demands of your life, of which there are currently many, is just as important as what you are able to produce.
It’s where the long-term growth is. The more you can come to seek a relationship with yourself, the more aligned and able you’ll be to grow congruently with what holds meaning for you. The more you’ll also be able to successfully deal with and potentially heal old wounds that, until now, seemed un-healable.
You’ll need some of the more abrupt events that may unfold this week to help you do this. The comments that left you uneasy. The difficult to digest communications. The not-so-simple-to-forgive exchanges that may occur. Given by you. Given to you. Both and. The interplay between you and those friends that feel like family or those family members that you are friends with are important. They might not always be as sweet as you’d want them to be, but there is much more to learn from communicating honestly and reflectively than there is from just keeping the pretend peace.
Sagittarius & Sagittarius Rising
This week will reveal who wants to help you win. This week has the potential to tease out those who might talk a big game but can’t show up when it’s time to pay the bill. This week creates heat between financial deadlines you need to meet and those that can help you meet them.
There is room for potential conflict between these two aspects of life. Money and friends aren’t always the best ingredients to add into the same mix. However, this week also offers you the potential to generate a tremendous amount of energy in these areas, rallying those that can support you, as long as your cause carries the weight you say it does. As long as what you are trying to generate is linked to a cause that can help the communities that you are a part of. As long as your intentions are true, you can use this friction to make good traction.
You might have to prove it to folks, so be prepared. You might have to shift your plans a tad so be willing to trim some fat. You might have to be game to include more visions than just your own. Good thing you are inclined towards inclusivity and geared toward the collective good right now.
Few things feel as good as taking our angst, anger, frustration and exasperation and channelling it into our work in the world. Right now you’ve got the fuel to rage against the machine, my friend. Make sure that you put it in the right engine.
Use what you get riled up about. Don’t suppress any messy feelings but do direct your emotional energy towards a good cause. Don’t worry about being respectable. Concern yourself with being disciplined and professionally on point. Put your experiences to work for you.
This week a little friction might be created between your work in the world and the way that you are used to being perceived. You might need to find your way around a personal power dynamic that gets set off in you in order to know the right action to take. Folks might not always know how to take you. Understand the difference between people giving you feedback and people fearing your power. When folks want to take you down a notch, try to see what it is they want to extinguish. Is it your light? Is it your fight? Is it your power that they fear? Know what they tend to trip out about so that you don’t take personally what isn’t about you.
You have a lot of energy at your disposal right now. You are a force of nature. Nurture what gives you space to express it and encourage your own experimentation with it.
Let the contrast between your greatest hopes and your worst enemy (in this case, that would be you) be made clear. Like, crystal clear. Know how you take yourself down. Know how you trip yourself up. Know how you have a tendency to set yourself up for failure.
Because this moment has more to do with your success than anything else. It has to do with allowing yourself to hope. It has to do with giving yourself permission to feel positive about your situation. It has to do with believing in your goals and giving them permission to guide your way.
It’s just that the closer you get to them, especially this week, the clearer your self-sabotaging ways will be revealed.
That’s how we work. We get close to a goal and every resistance that we have to it starts to shout out doubts like it is their job. Which it is. It’s an archetypal condition that we all carry with us. If you want to reach for the big ring, you’ve got to face the big dragon that guards it. Not just any fool can floss this and you, my friend, are no fool for following this dream and working on making it real.
Who in your community helps you to do your work? Who among your group of folks encourages you to grow? Which of your friends inspires you to make more out of your hopes and dreams? Who knows how to make it work, make it real and make their mark in the world? Who incites a kind of internal riot in you, one that demands that you show up and make more out of what you have been given? Who isn’t afraid to risk their reputation or rally others to their cause? Who teaches you the most about co-operation and taking good care of the connections that fill you up and give you hope?
Spend more time with the folks that came to mind when you read that list of questions. Ask for the advice that you need and you feel they might have. Seek ways of teaming up and creating partnerships that are based on shared ethics, values and visions. Learn about how to maintain boundaries with the best of them. Learn how to value what you have to give as much as you value what others have. See all the ways in which you don’t see yourself as an equal and then work on doing so, a little bit at a time.
