White supremacy kills no matter the astrology.
It is the death machine that runs America. It is the blood-soaked soil that it is built upon.
White supremacy kills folks of color. En mass. Without consequence. Without accountability. Body counts, but no real numbers.
White Supremacy kills possibility. It kills opportunity. Countless deaths. Impossible to add up.
White supremacy kills the humanity of white folks. Leaves us soul-less. Leaves us in pretty bubbles with no shame. With all the land, but no connection to it. With all the gold, but no knowledge of the horrors that put it into our accounts. With no blame, but all the blood on our hands. White privilege leaves us untouched. Untouched by life. Untouched by growth. Untouched by death. Unaware of how violent our actions are. Uneducated on how much damage our silence does. Unafraid because of all the ways in which the law protects us.
But we should be afraid.
Afraid of what we are conspiring with. Of the parts of ourselves that want to squirm out of this. Of our despondency. Of our desire to wash our hands of a problem that begins and ends with us. Of the parts of ourselves that just want to go back to our nice white lives. Of the parts of ourselves that like the amnesia and self-righteousness that white privilege affords us daily.
This must end with us. Not with our children’s children. Not with our children. This is ours. Ours to dedicate ourselves to eradicating. Ours to be consumed with. Ours to suffer with. Ours to wrestle with. Ours to sweat over. Ours to see all the time. Ours to uproot, understand and to dismantle. Ours to take up and to lay down for good. It is the only way to reclaim our humanity from a past and a present that is lacking so much.
We must become human.
#BlackLivesMatter isn’t divisive. It isn’t separating folks. Folks have been separated. Ever since there was a “United States,” folks have been divided. Slaughtered. Enslaved. Imprisoned. Poisoned. Sterilized. Institutionalized. There has never been equality here. We have never begun from the same place. We have never had equal safety, equal rights or equal protection.
Never.
To be either against this movement or neutral to it is to hold the gun. It is to pull the trigger. It is to go down in history as the person who did nothing in the face of one of the greatest injustices of our time. This is not nuanced. Anti-blackness is not nuanced. Being shot for reaching for your wallet, for selling CD’s, for being black is not nuanced. There is no nuance to hide behind.
There never was.
This past new moon in Cancer occurred at the same degree as the sun in the chart for the United States of America. The sun of the chart for the United States has been undergoing an opposition from Pluto for a couple of years now. It is past the point of being exact, but this last new moon awoke it once more. Pluto transforms. Pluto demolishes. Pluto demands that we deal with our power issues.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Using our power to dismantle the systems that abuse power is the only antidote.
Mars in Scorpio, having recently stationed direct, is also a part of this current picture. Mars in Scorpio reveals the bloodiest battles, the most horrifying horrors and the most brutal of human behaviors. At the beginning of June, it squared the moon of the chart for the US and will again the week of July 24th. The moon deals with our security. Our family. Our safety. Our history.
Our history is haunting us. It has never left.
None of us are free, safe or secure until all of us are.
