Mercury (retrograde) enters Leo
Saturday, September 2nd
Mars in Leo trine Uranus in Aries, both at 28°
Sunday, September 3rd
Mercury conjunct Mars at 29° of Leo
This week pokes around what is tender. Wakes up wounds that need rest. Inflames senses that have been stressed.
We may feel the need to ward off unfavorable opinions. Speak out against what is overstepping its bounds. Seek out the courage to say what needs to be said.
We may be called to defend. To serve. To protect.
This week returns to lessons we learned over the last eclipse. Lessons that are still working their way through our systems. Lessons that are still letting themselves be known. Lessons that are still too new to make use of.
Astrology isn’t concerned with our tempo. It dances to its own beat.
Work with this material cautiously. Some of it is a little caustic. Corrosive. Cutting. It can do damage if used unconsciously.
On Thursday, Mercury retrogrades back into Leo, transiting the fixed star, Regulus. Regulus is the star of rulers and royalty and was featured in the last solar eclipse. Retrograde Mercury transiting this fixed star might entice some leader somewhere to start typing up a tweet storm about how incredible they are. How magnificent their machines of war are. How terrifying their strength is.
But you don’t need an astrologer to tell you how possible that is. On any given day.
Mercury is heading back to 28° of Leo where it will conjunct Mars, on Sunday, September 3rd. This is the exact point that the last eclipse occurred on. Mercury will then station direct on the eclipse point on September 5th.
Anytime a planet transits an eclipse point, within 6 months of the eclipse occurring, it re-activates the events of the eclipse. This week both Mercury and Mars are re-triggering the eclipse point, while making a trine to Uranus (Mercury’s won’t be exact, but it will be felt).
Mercury is the Messenger. Mars is the warrior. Uranus is the disruptor. These three activating the eclipse point together creates communications that are volatile and boundary-breaking.
All this is occurring while Mercury is stationing direct. When Mercury stations direct what was hidden is revealed. What was secret comes to light. The keys that were lost find their way back into our pockets. The information that we needed two weeks ago finally resurfaces. Helping us to make sense of what happened, but late nonetheless.
These days may reveal things for us personally, but they will also reveal things for us collectively. And forcefully so with Mars in the mix.
Soon both Mercury and Mars will reappear as morning stars. Both with renewed energy. Both staking a claim over how the next weeks will unfold. Mars inflames, causes separation, breaks the boundaries that get in its way. As morning star, Mars’s energy will be on the rise. These days will tend to separate a lot out for us. Like the fact that excusing white supremacy in any way, shape or form makes the excuser a white supremacist. There is no such thing as a little bit racist, sexist, ableist, classist, transphobic or homophobic.
Poison is poison.
May this astrology help us to remember our humanity everyday, in every way.
*Horoscopes are meant to be read as inspiration. If you know both your rising sign and sun sign, please read both horoscopes. They both contain important information. This week encourages you to retrieve the information that keeps your creative engines humming.
This week circles around to what you were working on during eclipse season. It brings you back to the scene in question. Wants you to review a chapter’s worth of information. Wants you to reclaim any energy stolen from any character, plot line or twist in your tale.
Retrieving, recovering, and proclaiming your passion is this week’s mission. Notice what old stories are resurfacing for you right now. About validation that you were denied, about appreciation that never came your way, and about you curtailing of your own confidence.
Get to the bottom of what inhibits the flow of your creative energy. Get to know the voices that tell you not to take up space. Get to know the different aspects of how your creativity needs to fill the room. Be it pleasing or disturbing. Alluring or repulsive. Glorious or gruesome. Or all of the above. Dedicate this week to validating the unique ways in which your creativity wants to make itself manifest, especially in the ways you have been taught to reject. So often we throw out the best of what we have because we misunderstand it. Understanding your misunderstandings will lead you towards your creative genius with great speed.
Take note of the relationship issues that arise this week. Take note of the things that tend to stir within you the most intense reactions. Take note of all that sets your teeth on edge and makes you want to fight.
Especially when it comes to family. Or folks that feel like family. Or folks that remind you of your family. The more adept you are at noticing when a current issue triggers one from your past, the easier you’ll be able to understand what you need to do about it. To protect yourself. To honor your boundaries. To witness the situation for what it is.
To get to do what you never could when you were young. Don’t forget how grown you are. How much choice you now have. It’s up to you to you to take your needs seriously.
Grant yourself the gift of calling things as they are. Grant yourself the gift of believing the information that appears before you. Grant yourself the gift of getting to understand something about your past that you couldn’t before. It’s growth, and it’s claiming you as its own this week.
This week wants you to retrace your steps. It wants you to review your calendar. Your communications. Your emails, texts and conversations. It will reroute you. Disrupt plans. Disturb schedules.
Leave yourself extra room for these miscommunications, misdirected days and missteps that you might get tricked into taking.
These detours have the ability to help you rediscover something you forgot. Help you learn what you usually aren’t privy to. Help you sort through situations that you need to. Help you to find things that you didn’t even know you had lost.
Like your cool.
This week tricks us all into overacting.
Catch yourself. Keep yourself company so that you don’t get bored and go looking for attention. Keep yourself in line so that folks don’t think you are starting an argument when you were really just starting up a conversation. Keep yourself informed of the fact that people might make things out to be a little deeper than you mean them to be, so go easy on them when you can. When you can’t, go for the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Get to the heart of the issue with an unwavering commitment to telling what needs to be told.
This week reveals the edges of your work life. The corners that you can’t cut. The places that feel a little sharp and unrelenting in their demands. There will be work issues that resonate with those that came up during the last eclipse. There may be jobs that you need to get done without the time or energy to do them.
Such is life under Mercury retrograde.
Do the best that you can with the time that you have got. Try to keep the difficulties in perspective. Try to protect yourself from the energy drains that can easily occur right now. Try not to take miscommunications or travel delays personally. Take things in stride. Sleep. Eat. Hydrate. Laugh. Love. Hug who you can.
Track the conversations that you are having about money. Your capacity to earn a living. The kind of professional situations that suit your style.
You have a right to advocate for your needs.
Investigate any hesitations that you might have about asking that they be met. This week wants you to advocate for yourself in your working partnerships and negotiations. If you don’t, you may very well end up resenting the situation, which will cause you to lose more than just material gains.
This week challenges you to a battle of the mind and heart. Charges you with a duty to defend what is sacred to you. Prompts you into impulsive oversharing. Lures you into conversations that will tempt all those involved to create more drama than clarity.
Don’t take the bait. Be clear. Be precise. Keep your wisecracks to a minimum. Don’t mince your words but be willing and able to back up what you say with action.
Light lies on fire. Refuse to speak them. Refuse to say anything that you don’t know to be absolutely true. Refuse to sit on important information that could create breakthroughs for you and others. Refuse to let fear inhibit you from saying what you know needs to be said.
Pay attention to how these days are connected to what occurred for you during the last eclipse. What are you learning about yourself? About how you are defining yourself? Keep learning how to say “no” without regret. Boundaries are your best friends. Both the boundaries that keep out all unnecessary absurdities and the boundaries that keep your own chaos in check.
September brings to you some immensely important energy to work with. So much work is coming your way. So much action, progress and attention. So much to get done and the drive with which to get it done.
This week, and part of next, however, aren’t quite there yet. There’s one more thing to review. One last piece of information to retrieve. One last loop around the track that you’ll need to make.
This week, and part of next, are asking you to do some very deep work on yourself. Asking you to sit with your most honest reflections. Your most difficult behaviors. Your most self-destructive tendencies. This is something that the last eclipse brought forth. This week offers you access to another layer of yourself to peel back and understand.
Pay attention to resentments that are fed by misunderstanding. Pay attention to the conclusions you jump to when you are too afraid to ask for more information. Pay attention to the ways in which silenced desires reinvent themselves as problems with others. We project onto others what we don’t allow ourselves. Reclaim those projections so that you can access the power and potential of living them out yourself.
We’re all in this astrology together. Each of us struggling though these testy days. Being as sensitive to everyone else’s temperament as you are, you might be tracking this more than most. You might be wondering why many around you are a little off center. You might be picking up on the subtle and not so subtle hues of hostility that color our current moment.
Protect yourself.
Going back to what we talked about during the last eclipse, I want to take this moment to remind you that other people’s happiness is not your responsibility. You can be a good teammate. A good partner. A good supporting player in another’s support system.
But their happiness is not yours to harness and bring to them.
Fire yourself from that job immediately. And repeatedly if necessary. Fire yourself from the role of care-giver who gives too much. Instead, get on with getting to the work that is waiting for you. You might have to have a tense conversation with a loved one. You might have to lay down a boundary that feels uncomfortable to lay down. You might have to witness how hard that is for you to do, but that doesn’t mean you don’t do it. It means you find all the ways to love yourself through it.
This week makes clear the most important developments that you are making in your career. The communications that you are being encouraged to take part in. The sentiments that you need to voice. The points of view that you need to declare as your own.
The eclipse pointed to this situation. Activated it. Got you familiar with the ins and outs of it. But this week circles back around to it. Giving you more information. Bringing it back up for you to work through. To be expressed through you. To be embodied by you.
This week’s astrology asks you to take a stand in your working relationships by remembering your power no matter who you are in the presence of. It gets testy. It has you pushing a boundary that others would rather stay set in place. It has you defining why you do what you do and what about it is important for you.
As long as you are coming from a place of integrity, this astrology will most likely help you to make breakthroughs that bust you through glass ceilings. But if you let ego get the best of you, you might be better off saving your rants for your therapist.
Sagittarius & Sagittarius Rising
If your self-care system is any good at all, it will not protect you from your growing pains. It will not cover up your longings for love. It will not silence the aching that you have for your destiny.
Because if you really want to heal, you have to be willing to feel.
If your self-care system is built to last, it will reveal your truths without apology. Making the hurt of a situation more acute so you can learn from it immediately. Making the lessons that much sharper so you can witness them from a mile off. Making the truth land that much deeper so that it can be integrated into you.
This week you’ll be reviewing a situation that first came up for you around the eclipse, on August 21st. It’s a review of your most dearly held beliefs. A review of how well they help you heal. A review of you grand plans for the future. A review of the ways in which your works gets published and put out into the world. Make sure that no matter what you are faced with, no matter what choices you have to make, you choose the road that will reveal the most about you. Choose the path that is the most healing for this point in your life. Choose the path that helps you to clarify your beliefs and put them into action. Choose the path that helps you honor your feelings and the wisdom they bear.
This week’s astrology is either asking you to review (yet again this month) an aspect of your collaborations that needs to be revised, reworked or addressed, or to deal with something that is causing you some kind of mental anguish.
Or both.
One situation might beget another. Keep sorting through any intense thoughts or feelings that come up this week. Don’t let them fester. Don’t brush them off as unimportant. Don’t pretend that the information that triggers a big reaction in you isn’t important. Especially in regards to working with others. Especially in regards to any long-term commitments. Especially in regards to being honest about what each person is bringing to the equation.
This week asks you to rally your inner warrior spirit, your courage, and your confidence so that you can advocate for what you need. So that you can work with others in the most honest and mutually beneficial ways. So that you can be clear about how to help your mind stay focused on solutions, rather than dwelling on the obstacles.
This week drags you into intense conversations. Ones that challenge you to understand your defenses a little better. Ones that help you to understand your boundaries a little better. Ones that want to highlight what gets in the way of intimacy a little better.
You might feel like this week’s conversations drag you. Don’t take it personally. Don’t get pulled into anyone’s drama. Don’t feel like you need to take someone else’s life lessons on for them, but don’t make them worse either.
This astrology digs deep into your communication dynamics. Those that are closest to you will be able to offer you the most important reflections. Use these reflections as meditations. As mirrors to sit in front of. As questions to ponder. Not everyone will witness you correctly. Not everyone will understand your heart. But sometimes other people’s misunderstandings of us give us great clarity. It’s a difficult gift to receive, but it’s one that is well earned and lasts a lifetime.
This week keeps the emphasis on your work-life and the routines that help you keep it in good condition. Efficient. Well-structured. Optimally operating.
However.
This week helps you to understand what works by revealing what doesn’t. Things may break. Be stalled. Be too unruly to reason with. Pause instead of panicking. Breathe instead of beating yourself up. Remember a helpful affirmation instead of running away with apocalyptic thoughts. This astrology might give you incredible insights into the nature of what you need to work on, but it might also just be something that you need to work through.
When in doubt, ask yourself what you can do to be productive.
Even if that is just washing the windows. Folding the laundry. Returning your library books. Little accomplishments go a long way right now. Arguments and insults do too, so be conscious of how you communicate with coworkers, clients, employers, employees and loved ones. Refuse to send emails, texts or messages when you are angry. Wait until the intensity of your feelings has subsided somewhat before you respond to someone. Your anger may be more than valid, but just make sure it isn’t clouding your sentiments or misrepresenting your intentions.
