Each evening the waxing moon will greet us as it travels across the dusky to dark sky, ripening towards fullness. The week opens up with the moon’s first quarter square to the sun. This stage of the moon eggs us into decisive action and asks us to move towards and with our creations in confidence. Witnessing the swell of La Lune is useful magic to work with as we grow the seeds of our intentions. Never knowing the true potential of what we plant, we can learn to watch the development of our intentions with curiosity instead of judgment, love instead of fear and a discerning eye so that we can assist our creation’s growth when possible.

The moon will be full on the morning of Monday, February 22nd, making this week a lead up to its peak.

Venus shifts signs from Capricorn to Aquarius and the sun shifts from Aquarius to Pisces this week. This swap into and out of Aquarius means that there is still a lot of ground to cover in the areas of our chart that contain Aquarius and there is a shift of conscious awareness and a spot light on the area of our chart that contains Pisces.

Venus will have a much easier time all round in Aquarius than she did in Capricorn. In fact Venus will only encounter “easy” aspects here. So while Aquarius isn’t a sign that she has any particular strength in (though she will have temporary strength there next week), Venus can use the innovative Aquarian energy to pursue intellectually illuminating connections that stimulate a sense of universal love, equality and humanitarian aims. Her travels through Aquarius will assist us in the area of our charts that contain Aquarius.

Aquarius is traditionally ruled by Saturn and while Venus is in Aquarius she will form a sextile (a signature Venus move) with Saturn. This bodes well for Venus and for whatever it is that we are developing in this area of our lives.

The sun’s move into the vast seas of Pisces is a little different. In the watery and undefined terrain of the fishes, the sun in Pisces will come across some mighty winds and treacherous waves. But that weather report is better to be given a little closer the storm (the sun’s travels through the Saturn/Neptune square and the solar eclipse in Pisces on March 8th). For now (and especially from Wednesday to Friday when the moon is in Cancer) we can make use of the sensitive, intuitive, peacemaking, imaginal realm that a water sign like Pisces opens us up to.

Additionally Mars, the rough and tumble bad apple/valiant warrior of our astrology system, will enter the earliest aspect of its upcoming retrograde (April 17th-June 29th) this week. Mars is not yet retrograde, it’s just now in the terrain in which it will retrace once it is. This means that from now to the earliest days of summer we will be finding ourselves struggling with, working on and redefining our relationship to our desire, drive and our ability to take action. When Mars goes retrograde, it’s a time to review all these things and more. It’s also a time that can ask us to slow down, redirect and redistribute our get up and go.

Aries & Aries Rising

Look for those that have the same hunger in their stride as you do. Catch up to those that outflank fools with their wise and wide gait. Speak up so that the giants of generosity know you are there. Pay attention to romances that may develop along the treasure hunts you were sent you out on last week. What looks longingly at you? What helps your heart stretch? How many ways can you fall in love with the day? What are you learning from those that have stuck it out and stuck around? What have you learned about staying the course?

This week the suns rays begin to warm up your 10th house of career and reputation. As it does, there is perhaps a greater yearning to shine, a louder call for you to come out and a natural unfolding of your light in all you do. Enjoy whatever ease is there.
